A little bit of information about Eppalock Primary
Eppalock Primary is set in attractive, well-maintained, spacious grounds in the rural community of Axe Creek, 17 kilometres east of Bendigo. The area caters to families who look upon the unique features of a rural school as part of their life style choice. Through our links with DNRE, CMA, Land Care, City of Greater Bendigo, Axe Creek Fire Brigade and Access employment, students have the opportunity to take part in many authentic learning tasks.
Eppalock Primary School is very fortunate in that we have very strong community support. The community joins together on many occasions both within and outside the school. You will enjoy social gatherings and opportunities to discuss issues in a very supportive environment. This indeed would be one of the strengths of the school.
The school has a strong environmental focus through our involvement in water saving initiatives, national tree planting day and sustainable energy projects.
The school is highly regarded because of its child-centred approach to learning, its focus on students accepting responsibility for their progress, the development of self-discipline and the pursuit of excellence. Students are in three multi-age groups supported by dedicated teachers and a strong family involvement. The school offers a comprehensive curriculum with Literacy and Numeracy being priority areas.
The school has interactive white boards in each classroom, computers including Netbooks for Grade 5 & 6 students and digital cameras which children use as part of their learning. Each day begins with half an hour of physical activity designed to charge up the batteries and set the tone for the day.
Drama, Music, LOTE (Indonesian), Art and MARC (mobile Library van) are enjoyed by all students.
In order to promote engagement of students we have introduced Clubs, which run on Friday afternoons. Children choose preferences for their preferred club activity. These activities change on a monthly basis and are supported by teachers, parents, grandparents or community members. Children are in multi-age groups for these activities and this has been a most successful program.
After School Care is available for all school age children within the community. The program runs from 3.15 pm – 5.30 pm daily. Students are provided with a healthy afternoon snack and will be involved in a number of activities presented by our very efficient supervisors. The cost of the program etc is available from the school.
Active After School Careruns for a seven week program during each term on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 3.30 pm – 4.30 pm. There are a variety of activities including Cricket, Tennis, Soccer, Games for Life, Ten Pin Bowls, Basketball and Hockey. Children are also provided with a healthy snack prior to commencing the activities. There is no cost for families who attend Active After School Care.
We encourage families who may be considering sending children to Eppalock to visit the school and take advantage of a tour of our facilities and discuss our educational programs.
